Affectivness

Portrait d'une négresse, later renamed Portrait d'une femme noire or Portrait de Madeleine, is a painting painted by the French painter Marie-Guillemine Benoist in 1800.

The oil on canvas is a portrait of a young black woman, the Guadeloupean Madeleine, considered to be a celebration of the abolition of slavery in the colonies by the French Revolution.

Here is my current interpretation.
